Who Me?
Posted in Alex's Blog on September 1, 2010
I grew up in Kildare Ireland, spent almost 19 years of my life there. From family then decided to immigrate to Canada so I got sent over to start University in Halifax N.S, 4 years later I graduated and still absolutely no sign of the family? (alot of people find this quite entertaining). I studied Kinesiology in Canada, yeah I know what the hell is kinesiology?
After finishing my degree I went to work for the summer to pay off the last of my fees, at the the end of the work season instead of clearing all my University debt I decided to pay a fraction of it and disappear to Thailand for as long as possible. I’ve been fascinated by Thai Boxing since I first discovered it 2 years ago and haven’t been able to get enough of it ever since thats why I came out here, to the home of the sport. Right now I’m training at Lanna Muay Thai in Chiang Mai but have plans to eventually return to Bangkok and check Kiatphontip but who knows where I’ll end up, This is Thailand.
This blog is for anyone interested in making a trip out to Thailand to travel or train, I’m hoping to give you a glance into what it’s like to spend some time in this amazing country and hopefully encourage you to do it yourself. You wont regret it. Basically it will consist of transcripts from my journal while I’m out here, of the experiences I’ve had, the people I’ve met, and reflections on life out here in general.
Hope you all enjoy it and feel free to provide any feedback!
Alex.

Ironically enough I’ve been searching for Chiang Mai blogs of muay thai and yours is the first i’ve come across it’s very informative & is very much so along the lines of how I plan on spending my trip.
I just spent the last hour wandering through your blog (backwards) reading articles that peaked my interest & i’m quite stunned you went to school in Halifax because I live just a few hours north in Cape Breton, such a coincidence & would you believe im also a ginger? Crazy, I know.
Thanks for the attention to detail & excellent blog..
