Created and organized by its Thai hosts, Thai Fight is an international standard Muay Thai boxing competition hosted in the Kingdom of Thailand — the home and birthplace of the ancient Thai art of boxing or Muay Thai. Thai Fight fully embraces Thai cultural values and reflects uniquely Thai cultural identity.

Muay Thai champions from 16 participating countries will be joining Thai Fight. These are Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Turkey, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Korea, Iran, and host country, Thailand.

The ancient origins of Muay Thai can be traced back to Muay Boran or ancient boxing, a form of unarmed combat used by Siamese soldiers in conjunction with an ancient weapon called Krabee Krabong.

A beautiful blend of force, dance and devotion, Muay Thai is the only form of martial arts admired for its beauty and cultural values as its brutal effectiveness.

Today, Muay Thai enjoys worldwide popularity and is recognized internationally. Hundreds of countries around the world have demonstrated a keen interest in incorporating Muay Thai into their sports curriculum. This interest is also driving the exponential growth in the number of Muay Thai schools being established and operated internationally. Muay Thai techniques are also being taught as a form of self-defence in police cadet academies in several countries.

In spite of this phenomenal growth worldwide, it is universally known and accepted that the Thai kingdom – the birthplace of original Muay Thai — is the only place in the world where students, ardent fans and loyal supporters of this legendary martial arts will be able to see Muay Thai in its original form, and at its very best.

Many Muay Thai boxers from around the world venture to Thailand to experience first-hand the soul and spirit of this centuries old ancient art and martial arts technique and to learn about its true essence and the cultural values, so they truly master the art. They also make their way to ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya to pay homage to the legendary Muay Thai folk hero, Nai Khanom Tom.

The organizers are striving to get the message across that Thailand — the birthplace of original Muay Thai — is the only place in the world to see the very best in Muay Thai fights.

Thai Fight takes Muay Thai boxing onto the international stage and will feature Muay Thai champions from 16 participating countries. These are Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Turkey, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Korea, Iran, and host country, Thailand.

The rules of Thai boxing which allow the use of fist, knee and elbow during the fight will be observed. Three rounds of 3-minutes each will be fought with a 2-minute rest break between rounds.

Born in Australia, training in martial arts since the age of 9. My first trip to Thailand was back in 2007. Since then i have made numerous visits back to the "land of smiles" to feed my addiction of Muay Thai. During the month of November in 2010 i had to decide between working a 9 to 5 job back home for the rest of my life, or sell all my worldly possessions and move to Thailand to live and train for the next few years. Thankfully i chose the latter. I now spend my time training Muay Thai, meeting new and interesting circles of people, sipping coconuts under palm trees on the beach and measuring the cost of everything on how much Pad Thai i could buy with that money.
