Oley Sakonpetch To Defend Home Turf Against World’s Best

Battle Collossal XI this Saturday October 30, 2010 will see one of the best lightweights in the world testing the skill of Perth resident Thai technician WBC Australian champion Oley Sakonpetch. That lightweight no other than Juanmario Kaewsamrit AKA Juanmario Montenegro from the Canary Islands. Juanmario nicknamed “The Spanish Sensation” for his uncanny ability to beat the best in banging style.

Juanmario lives and trains out of Thailand fighting some of the best Thais and foreigners on offer, he is also the current WPMF Lightweight World title holder, defending the title successfully on many occasions. Juanmario Montenegro is also trained and mentored by Thai legend Anuwat Kaewsamrit, an epic fighter who knocked out everyone with punches in his time at the top in Lumpinee and Rajdamnern; including Oley Sakonpetch in 2004. Oley was knocked out by Anuwat with punches that saw Anuwat go on to win the Isuzu D-Max Championship tournament.

Oley Sakonpetch is definitely no pushover though, remaining unbeaten in style against some of Australia’s best including JWP’s Flip Street, Queensland’s Chris Petrie, Victoria’s Joel Fisher, Perth’s Mitchell Seth, France’s Sohanne Bengana and Cambodia’s Pich Seha. The pride of Perth rests upon Oley’s shoulders going into the bout and will no doubt be a test for Oley as he faces an adversary almost eight years his junior in his prime and on the rise on the international scene.

This bout will be epic who ever decides to come out with hammer and tong first. This fight will see thrills, spills and possibly a KO. Remember: Juanmario’s X-Factor = Punches; Oley’s X-Factor = The head kick. Be sure not to miss it.

Born in Australia, training in martial arts since the age of 9. My first trip to Thailand was back in 2007. Since then i have made numerous visits back to the "land of smiles" to feed my addiction of Muay Thai. During the month of November in 2010 i had to decide between working a 9 to 5 job back home for the rest of my life, or sell all my worldly possessions and move to Thailand to live and train for the next few years. Thankfully i chose the latter. I now spend my time training Muay Thai, meeting new and interesting circles of people, sipping coconuts under palm trees on the beach and measuring the cost of everything on how much Pad Thai i could buy with that money.
