Muay Thai Camp Tip : Buying Your Ticket & Travel Insurance

airline Muay Thai Camp Tip : Buying Your Ticket & Travel InsuranceMost of you just like me, try to keep the costs of going to Thailand as low as possible. No one wants to break the bank and it’s good to know you saved those extra dollars and can spend them on having a good time once in Thailand. The most expensive part of you Thailand trip will be the plane ticket and your travel insurance. So here’s some tips on getting them as cheap as you can.

Step 1. Airline Ticket

Being able to book online directly has made things more convenient and cheaper for everybody. A website that i like to use for this is Expedia.com.au. It will compare flight prices between 76 airlines and i’ve found it to give me the best results in terms of price. The only problem is, it doesn’t take into account budget airline in Australia such as Jetstar and Tiger Airways, which will come out cheaper but can be very uncomfortable for some of us.

Step 2. Travel Insurance

Once again, searching and buying online is the best way to go. I went to my bank one time and was quoted $400 for the Travel insurance they had on offer. This was for a 3 month holiday in Thailand. I then went home and searched the net. Turns out that the site i like to use now is iTrek.com.au. If your in Australia they offer the best travel insurance in regards to price, cover and customer service. I only paid $150 for the basic Bronze insurance. You can choose from Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum insurance which have different benefits and all at affordable prices.

If your not in Australia i would suggest Googling “Travel insurance comparisons and reviews” to find the best bang for buck cover and for peoples experiences with the insurance companies.

Step 3. Book Early

It helps if your a bit flexible with your time and if you book your Airline Tickets early. I always book my tickets around 5-6 months before i leave. It literally cuts the price in half. Keep an eye on the prices and find out which dates turn out cheaper. Getting late flights is also cheaper if you want to go that way.

There you go. I hope this helps anyone get there just that little bit cheaper. Saving a few hundred can mean a lot when you get to Thailand.

Born in Australia, training in martial arts since the age of 9. My first trip to Thailand was back in 2007. Since then i have made numerous visits back to the "land of smiles" to feed my addiction of Muay Thai. During the month of November in 2010 i had to decide between working a 9 to 5 job back home for the rest of my life, or sell all my worldly possessions and move to Thailand to live and train for the next few years. Thankfully i chose the latter. I now spend my time training Muay Thai, meeting new and interesting circles of people, sipping coconuts under palm trees on the beach and measuring the cost of everything on how much Pad Thai i could buy with that money.
