John Wayne Parr Controversy Over Loss To Preacher
Posted in Articles, Fight Scene on September 11, 2010
A few weeks ago i practically said John Wayne Parr was going to wipe the floor with Bruce “Preacher” Macfie’s pastel coloured hair. Looks like I’m eating my words right about now. The results were in from last nights Evolution 21, one of Australia’s premiere fight promotions. As i scanned over the quick results i noticed something strange under the JWP vs Preacher results. Split decision going to Preacher? No, must be wrong. I check some other sources of results. Everyone has it wrong, i quickly switch to denial. How can this be? How can John Wayne lose to his fluorescent haired opponent?
No one will argue that this was a close fight. Although it never seemed to come out of 3rd gear, the only time we saw both fighters explode with rapid flurries of punches and kicks was in the dying seconds of the last round. There was no dominant performance coming from either man but John Wayne Parr seemed to have more control over the entire fight.
It seems there’s some dispute among the Muay Thai community and more importantly straight from John Wayne Parr himself to the outcome of the fight. John Wayne Parr stated
” Found out after my fight from the 3 judges own mouths that two of them awarded me the fight, one called it a draw, yet I lost?? Why didn’t anyone add up the score sheets??”
Will JWP take further action? That’s yet to be seen. We are going to have to sit back and see how this unravels over the next few weeks.
With only a month to go before he meets Yodsaenklai for the third time, lets hope John Wayne Parr brings us a more enthusiastic fight for a more compelling decision.

preacher cleary won jwp threw a lot of punches but not many got threw, jwp has his legs nearly knocked from from under him about 5 or 6 times not to mention the left hook that nearly knocked him out
Really hanging out to see the video of the fight. I’ve heard a lot of people tell me it went one way and others say it clearly went the other.
In the end, the “W” has gone to Preacher and JWP just has to look forward and concentrate on his next fight with Yodsaenklai.
