Where To Buy Muay Thai Gear?
Posted in Articles, Blog, Buying Muay Thai Gear/Equipment on May 3, 2010
So whats one important thing we need while training in Thailand? Some sweet ass muay thai gear to rock out while hitting them pads, that’s what. So do we buy at home or wait till we get to Thailand to purchase our equipment? For a more diverse selection of quality brands at a cheap price, you can’t beat buying in Thailand. This only brings up our next question. Where is the best place to shop for muay thai gear.
Here’s a rundown on where to buy, and where not to buy.
Phuket
If your traveling to Phuket, equipment will always be more expensive then if you shopped around in Bangkok. Even though it is more convenient, you should never buy from the gym that your staying at or any Muay Thai gym as a matter of fact. You will find that they are usually overpriced and don’t have much of a selection. For more variety and competitive prices in Phuket your best off going to Phuket Fight Store located just a walk away form Tiger Muay Thai and Phuket Dragon Muay Thai. They stock not only Muay Thai gear, but MMA gear, supplements and other miscellaneous items. Check out the site at www.phuket-fight-store.com . Here’s a map to help you find your way.
Bangkok
Bangkok has a plethora of places to go for cheap Muay Thai gear. Most people will just head to the Muay Thai stadiums like Lumpinee and Rajadamnern. Theses places are great to go check out while seeing some fights. You might find the prices a bit cheaper than Phuket, but compared to other shops in Bangkok, they can be a rip off. If your a tight ass like me then i would recommend you go to Rama 1 near MBK and head down to Action Zone or even the 100 other sports stores around that area that sell cheap Muay Thai gear. Here’s a map to help you find your way.
Here’s a few things i got from there just to make you all jealous.
For those of you who are too lazy to do the conversions, at the current rate the shorts were all just under $20 AUD and $20 USD since the aussie dollar is about 93c to the american. The Bag gloves were just above $20. Try equipment that dirt cheap back home!
Boon Sports Bangkok
Now the Boon store! Pretty much the only place you can get Boon equipment is from the Boon store or online which will cost you and arm and a leg. SO head down to the actual store in Bangkok if your in the city to get great prices on great muay thai gear. They sell real top of the range equipment in regards to quality. That’s where their focus is, perfect build quality and minimal flamey fancy designs. The owner is an Australian so it makes it extremely easy to discuss designs for custom shorts as there is no breakdown in communication. You can check out the website at http://www.boonsport.com/
To find the place here’s a map.
Here’s a little something i got made up while there for only 390 Baht. Nothing fancy.
You can find a small review i did on Boon with some prices on their equipment HERE
Besides that you can go to Fairtex Bangplee also known as Fairtex RCA. You’ll end up paying though the nose but it’s the only place you’ll find that sells Fairtex equipment in Bangkok.
That just about does it for Shopping for Muay Thai gear. Just remember to haggle and bargain. But always have fun with it and don’t be a dick lol.

Oh sweet. I didn’t know about the BOON store..
I’ll have to check it out..
Just checked out your other post on the BOON shop as well, do you remember off hand how much they were selling the Thai pads for?
Hi Bill,
The Thai Pads were as followed
Thai pads with velcro or buckle
small 2,000 Baht
medium 2,100 Baht
large 2,200 Baht
XL 2,300 Baht
Hope that helps
Pretty damn cheap considering if you buy them in australia or america they’ll slug you over $100 for them.

Hey Nak Muay,
Glad your finding the site helpful.
Thanks for popping a link back to my site on yours!
Mike
Those green Boon shorts are by far my favorite
Hey man,
thanks for all the info. After having checked this website it seems like im gonna try 13 coins gym. I also have a couple of questions. 1. which brand has the best quality gloves boon or top king? 2. is there a top king shop in Bangkok? im gonna go in april and Im planning on getting gloves, bag gloves, shin guards and head gear. I train 5 days a week so i need something durable. i heard fairtex was really crappy and that top king and boon are by far the best. what do you think?
Thanks a lot man.
Hi Fred, just so you know 13 coins has lost abit of it’s Muay thai stars but is still a good gym for very hard training.
As for the best quality gear. Both Boon and Top King make very high quality products. It just depends on you personal style and feel for the glove that should sway your decision.
The Top King Shop is at Lumpinee or you can ask the lady at Action Zone to get you some.
Personally i have only used Twins. But have heard plenty of praise for Boon, King, and Raja.
Thanks a lot for the info man! Im still deciding on which camp to go to this summer any recommendations? in your opinion what are the best camps you can go to?
Thanks.
Highly recommend Sitsongpeenong. If your on more of a budget come down and try out Sitmonchai Gym http://www.sitmonchai.com
I hear Kiatphontip is great too. I’ll be going there later to see what it’s like
hi guys,
where can i buy a mini gloves keychain in BKK??? i’ve been there so manytime i don’t see it.
“shirley”, go to BOONSPORT in OnNut soi 81 or any of the shops around the Stadiums
Hi, I am going back to bangkok and wondering if anyone has detailed directions to the thaismai factory in bangkok.
I have only found round about directions like it is near this building etc… but cannot find it on the map.
Went to the boon store and it was excellent. Have been doing some training now in chiang mai at lex’s gym and want to go to 13 coins in bangkok.
Was wondering if anyone can comment on the resort itself, the internet rates seem to be at 32 usd per night but at one of the other 13 coins resorts the review for the bangna resort sais he got a walk in rate of 500 baht/night.
If this is possible was thinking of doing this and posting some information about the resort itself and training.
I
If anyone is interested in training in chiang mai I can recommend lex’s gym and there is also KC gym, which is just behind the big c building on the road out from the airport.
Lex has a smaller gym but you get personal attention and they are patient. The equipment is good at both gyms the KC gym has all boon gear whereas lex has a mix. Lex will pick you up which is partly why I chose this gym as its easier than renting a bike etc so you can live close to the shops and restaurants in the city.Plus they have cheaper rates as KC seems to have increased its rates.
Hi I just went to Thaismai off Chaoren Krung Road in bangkok
It is difficult to locate on google maps unless you type in certain search queries
chaoren krung 84 bangkok
type this into google maps thailand
The store is on the corner of the soi, there are two shop fronts so it’s hard to miss.
If you take the skytrain to the saphan taksin stop and get out at exit four you enter chaoren krung road. Take the orange bus going in the right hand direction, number 1 for 6.5 baht one way until you pass the tongtara riverview hotel (there are probably other busses but this is the one I know).
Just after you pass the hotel there should be a stop next to the store, this is on google maps as well. If you find you have gone past the highway overpass you have gone too far, just get off and walk back, it’s not far from there.
I only got prices for focus mitts and thai pads, however I didn’t buy anything as the quality did not seem as good as the boon stuf even though it was cheaper.
The prices for thai pads and focus mitts were as follows.
Focus mitt Small flat, 500 Baht each
Focus mitt Small Curved 600 Baht each
Small Thai pad (single loop) 750 Baht each
Med Thai Pad (double loop) 800 Baht each
Large Thai pad (double loop) 900 baht
Tha large thai pad actually looked realy good, had an extra ridge down the middle for protection and had white leather, looked quite good, I didn’t take a photo though as I thought they were on their product website and have now found out they’re not.
I probably would have bought these however I already bought some med thai pads from boon. The Small pads and focus mitts didn’t have the same type of leather as boon and seemed a lot flimsier, maybe thats just my opinion, but I thought I may as well spend 200 baht more and get a better product.
Anyway if you like thaismai the place is quite easy to find, chaoren krung is an easy road to find too and you just keep going along it until you find it.
I wanted to visit this store as I went to lumpinee and boon, and apart from ratchadamnoen this seemed one of the most central suppliers.
I also went to the one near national stadium, action something, but the prices were more expensive than lumpinee with a smaller range.
I really want to visit lumpinee again as out of the three time I have been there the windy store has been closed, and I cant find any windy gear here (other than some overpriced store in chiang mai), can anyone tell me if they have been there before and it has been closed recently?
Hey Mike,
I just finished up at Action Sports in BKK. So excited to have new gear for good prices. The ladies were so nice and helpful. I told her about your page and she said many people have come to her because of you. She said she would like to meet you and to please introduce yourself next time you are there. Thanks for the tips! super helpful!
What are the standard prices for boon shorts?
approx 400 baht. It really depends on how many logos and detail you want put into the shorts
Please tell where in Bangkok i can buy MMA clothing (Venum, Tapout ex.)?
Nowhere to my knowledge. Only can buy that sort of gear from Phuket Fight Store in Phuket
You can get it from Phuket fight store… but you will also find tapout stuff at some markets in Bangkok – just beware the quality and thickness (for after washing)
what are the average prices of twins special gloves in Phuket or bangkok?
Hi Mike,
Incredible info on your web site. Thank you very much for all the hard work.
I will be opening a new gym in northern Thailand in Pai. I have made some contacts for some equipment we need. But we plan on buying bags, pads, gloves etc. from Boon or Top King in Bangkok. I was wondering if you knew if ether of these companies will give a good discount when buying a large quantity of gear. Also, would Boon or Top King sponsor our gym in any way?
Thanks so much,
Chris
PS We have not built the gym yet so all the text on our website is of the dream we have and what it will be soon:)
Yes tey do give you better prices in bulk buying and they do sponsorships for gyms. You will have to talk to them.
Boon currently sponsors two gyms in Bangkok and i also know that Sitsongpeenong is sponsored by Top King.
Also, Where can I find protein powder and supplements in bulk in Bangkok?
Thanks
Just returned from the Phuket fight store. Service was crap there was an Australian lady working there and had no interest in helping us. The Thai man couldn’t speak a word of English and had no idea when we asked questions.
Spent $110 Aussie. And got 10oz twins gloves, large top king shin guards, twiNs shorts and twins wraps. Quite happy considering it would have cost more than double that if I brought it in australia.
Does action zone carry windy? If not can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Never remember seeing any Windy gear or catalogue.
If it’s Windy your after then they have a shop at Lumpinee Stadium. As you walk towards the Lumpinee building you just turn right and you should find it.
Hi there,
great website. have you got any ideas about chiang mai? I’ve just got here and need to buy some gloves, mits and shin guards but not sure where I could buy them. many thanks,
Sorry, not clued in on where to buy Muay Thai gear in Chiang Mai
hi there,

Hey,
You should get in contact with Phuket Fight Store. Boyd will be able to help you out with that. He can do both fairtex and twins bulk wholesale.
Any updates on where to buy gear in Chiang Mai?
What are you looking for in Chiang Mai? I do custom shorts and have a small range of gloves, pads, shin gards etc. Let me know what you want.
