Buakaw & Sagatpetch

k1worldmax20072 Buakaw & SagatpetchHere’s some mind blowing news. Buakaw isn’t set to compete in this years K-1 Max. That’s not the mind blowing news. Ok, now prepare your mind. According to Nightmare of Battle dot com Buakaw will have the chance to fight at World MAX -63kgs! Woah, mind explosion.

For me this is good news. I still get to see one of my favourite fighters work his magic on the Japanese circuit. My only concern is, will he make the weight cut? To my knowledge Buakaw doesn’t even cut weight for K-1 MAX 70kgs and walks around at 67-68kgs. He is fighting opponents bigger than him most of the time. If he goes into the -63kgs class, he will surely obliterate everyone. He will forever be known as a walking highlight reel. If the weight cut is too much for him, Buakaw will get the short end of the stick.

Either way no one can deny that this is going to be exciting. to watch.

Sagatpetch takes Buakaws spot competing at this year’s K-1 MAX to represent Thailand. Not many people know of him as most of his achivements have been isolated to Thailand and he has mostly been inactive until recently. Hailing from Ingram Gym in Bangkok, Sagatpetch has been a two time Lumpinee Champion, Rajadamnern Champion and Mitsubishi Tournament Champion. He won these title between 2002 and 2006.

Now I’m going to do something magical. Watch as i put Buakaw and Sagatpetch into the same scene, actually into the same ring, actually i’m also going to make them fight each other!

Born in Australia, training in martial arts since the age of 9. My first trip to Thailand was back in 2007. Since then i have made numerous visits back to the "land of smiles" to feed my addiction of Muay Thai. During the month of November in 2010 i had to decide between working a 9 to 5 job back home for the rest of my life, or sell all my worldly possessions and move to Thailand to live and train for the next few years. Thankfully i chose the latter. I now spend my time training Muay Thai, meeting new and interesting circles of people, sipping coconuts under palm trees on the beach and measuring the cost of everything on how much Pad Thai i could buy with that money.
